In the early morning hours of Wednesday, a group of 3 Actionists from Palestine Action Éire targeted the American software company Synopsys for their alleged ties to Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. The building in which the offices of the company reside, Stemple Exchange, was damaged by having it’s glass walls and elevator interior smashed and “Synopsys Drop Elbit” spray painted outside the building.
Synopsys, who have their headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, are a multinational electronic design automation company and ranked as the 12th largest software company worldwide in 2024. They design silicone chips and electronic systems software as well as supplying tools and services for the design, manufacture and implementation of semiconductors, analog and digital circuits and simulations.
The company has come under scrutiny after the investigative journalism publication the ditch revealed that Synopsys sent cargo labelled as “software” from Ireland to Elbit System’s “Cyclone” plant in Karmiel, Israel in November of 2024. Cyclone is a manufacturing site that produces parts for F-35 and F-16 fighter jets. Since Elbit Systems provides the Israel Defense Forces with 85% of their vehicles and weapons this connection to their supply chain has been heavily criticized.
With the United Nations Human Rights Council declaring Israel’s assaults on Gaza since October 7th 2023 a genocide and the ongoing case at the Internation Criminal Court, much of the Irish public expected their neutral state to crack down and cease all involvement in the Israeli war effort and have expressed frustration with dual use exports such these. With Synopsys refusing to comment on the matter, many believe that the company is still supplying Elbit Systems. The company was targeted once before by Palestine Action Éire, the direct action network claiming responsibility, in June 2025.
One of the Actionists says: “There are so many ways that the public have been pleading the government to act in solidarity with the Palestinians and against the genocide for these past 2 and half years. But our puppet leaders decide to turn a blind eye every day and make only symbolic speeches. Well, there’s plenty of people who are tired of pleading and we have enough information to target complicit companies right now, so that’s what we did. To supply war criminals makes you a war criminal, and to allow companies to supply war criminals and get away with it, that makes you complicit aswell. We are waging a fight against complicity in genocide and for the life and dignity of the Palestinian people.”
